The award-winning Old Sunday School provides luxury self-catering accommodation for 2 people in the picturesque village of Harrowbarrow in East Cornwall. Combining contemporary interiors with stunning views of the Tamar Valley, this luxury romantic retreat has great access to the Tamar Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. 

The Old Sunday School is dog friendly which is exclusively yours for the duration of your stay. There are dog walks galore right on the doorstep including moorland, woodland and coastal. 

 

The Space

Super-stylish interior with a sleek clean design, modern fixtures and fittings, and plenty of natural light. Modern, well equipped kitchen, and dining space both inside and out. There’a also a BBQ in the garden if you want to get grilling in the summer.

Put your feet up and enjoy a film or your favourite box set (there’s a 55″ TV with all Sky HD channels, BT Sport and Netflix to choose from plus a Sonos sound system) while your four-legged friend rests their weary paws in front of the log burner – they’ll love the underfloor heating, too!

Up on the mezzanine floor, separated from the living space by a glass partition, you’ll find the luxurious ensuite bedroom with a super king size bed and a 32″ TV with Sky HD, as well as a dressing area with plenty of storage. Romantic and celebration packages are available upon request including fresh flowers, balloons, confectionary, petals and champagne.

Owners James and Lisa live in the adjoining former chapel with their seriously cute beagles, Barney and Ruby, and are on hand to offer any help and advice to make make your stay a truly memorable one. Dog bowls, dog treats and dog blankets are kindly provided but please bring your own dog bed.

The Space

This home is bright and modern thanks to feature windows and skylights, and it also makes use of a large open plan living space and overhead bedroom to create space for you to spread out and relax in style.

The living space is sophisticated in its design and from the big windows in the double doors you’re presented with lovely views of the surrounding countryside. So make sure you get comfy on your big sofa in front of the log burner and enjoy a cosy and relaxing evening in with your loved one whilst enjoying the view. The living room area also has a large flatscreen television with a full Sky HD package and a Sonos sound system to keep you entertained.

The modern kitchen has everything you need to cook up some delicious meals for two, and there’s a spacious breakfast bar and some chic barstools which offer a great spot for your morning coffee or evening drink.

Upstairs sits a huge ensuite bedroom with dressing area and glass partition giving a mezzanine feel to the beautiful open-plan living space. There’s also a stylish and modern en suite bathroom upstairs complete with a big walk-in shower cubicle. Get a great night’s sleep in the Super king-size bed with plush headboard, side tables, and lamps. There’s also a TV in the bedroom and some windows to allow you to enjoy the countryside views whilst drinking your morning cuppa in bed.

 

Outside

Outdoors there’s a pretty patio with incredible views. Don’t leave without taking the time to enjoy at least one sunrise or sunset. There are cosy sun loungers, tables and chairs and a BBQ for you to make the most of the warm, Cornish evenings – or cooler ones, if you wrap up. The area is enclosed by a low wall that could potentially be jumped by more playful pups so pack a long lead or tether if it’s something that would worry you.

The double glass doors lead to the patio area which enjoys stunning views that sweep down the Tamar Valley towards Cotehele and the River Tamar.

Enjoy alfresco dining with our comfy furniture set which including sun loungers, a table and chairs and BBQ set.

This south-facing suntrap can enjoy some pretty spectacular sunrises and sunsets and if you’re lucky you may see resident deer, foxes and sparrowhawks.

Located in the quaint Cornish village of Harrowbarrow and is a short drive from the Tamar Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and National Trust’s medieval Cotehele. This is an idyllic spot that is home to a range of beautiful walks and cycling routes, as well as some charming country pubs.

Tamar Valley also offers up a truly diverse landscape filled with cultural landmarks, fascinating historical sites, and some superb sandy beaches. Add to this the charming gardens and wild rivers, and there’s something for everyone.

The quaint and former mining village of Harrowbarrow lies around 7 miles southwest of the Dartmoor town Tavistock and is perfectly situated in the heart of Cornwall meaning that many of the Southwest’s must-visit destinations including The Eden Project, Dartmoor National Park, Bodmin Moor, Tintagel Castle and Whitsand Bay are less than one hour away.

Harrowbarrow is a quiet and friendly village close to the popular and historic Kit Hill Country Park well known for its majestic views, walking trails and archaeological remains.

Harrowbarrow’s neighbouring village Metherell is a 15-minute walk away and is home to the popular and historic pub “The Carpenters Arms” which is praised by locals and visitors alike for its friendly atmosphere, decent pub food and real ale.
