With direct access to the most beautiful beach in St Ives and an amazing starlit steam room, Coxswain’s Cottage is one of the most glamorous places to rest your head in Cornwall. Unique, design-led and impeccably finished, our first three-bedroom property in St Ives rivals the best beach villas around the world.
As with all of our properties, the exterior of Coxswain’s Cottage is delightfully unassuming. But step off the bustling street and you’ll discover a stylish sanctum of exposed stone walls and thoughtful design, ideal for an indulgent weekend or a week away with friends and family. The house has a fully equipped kitchen and a living room with a vast six-person sofa that fits the entire family for film night. The three bedrooms and three bathrooms (two of which are en-suite) are all wonderfully comfortable for a property of this size, with the large bathroom also converting into a decadent steam room, ideal for warming chilled bodies after a plunge in the Cornish sea.
All the usual Beachspoke standard items apply and include a Nespresso machine, quality cookware and a complimentary bottle of bubbles.
Located on Back Road West in Downalong, St Ives, the cottage has a small private patio garden to the rear which leads to a secret tunnel that opens right onto the sand on Porthmeor Beach. The boutiques and cafés of St Ives are less than two minutes away, while the Tate gallery a five-minute walk from the property.
Private parking is available on request at an additional charge. Please do speak to the office to check the availability. Unfortunately, dogs are not permitted in Coxswain’s Cottage.
Living room: Seating for six on an L-shaped sofa, 42” flat screen TV, iPod dock
Kitchen/dining room: Four ring ceramic hob and cooker, microwave, Nespresso coffee machine, toaster, kettle, fridge, freezer, dishwasher, washer dryer, pots and pans, cutlery, glassware , tableware and linens, large country style table for six.
Family bathroom/ steam room: Four-person steam room, full sized bath and loo, heated towel rail.
Bedroom 1: King size bed, en-suite bathroom, built-in wardrobes, 400-thread count sheet linens, fluffy white towels and robes, Bamford products.
Bedroom 2: King size bed, en-suite bathroom, built-in wardrobes, 400-thread count sheet linens, fluffy white towels and robes, Bamford products.
Bedroom 3: Twin/super king bed(s), built-in wardrobes, 400-thread count sheet linens, fluffy white towels and robes, Bamford products.
General: Strictly no smoking, unfortunately not suitable for dogs, check in at 4:00pm and check out at 10.00am.
Parking: Parking is available in the Island Car Park which is a public car park situated approximately 10 minutes’ walk from the cottage. There is a daily charge at approximately £7.50 paid locally. Beachspoke also owns a private secure parking space that is available at an additional charge paid in advance, the cost of this is £20 per day. Situated in the heart of Downalong on Back Road West, just behind Porthmeor Beach, Coxswain’s Cottage sits right in the heart of St Ives’ most picturesque, and most cultured, district. The St Ives School of Painting is just a few doors down and within a five-minute walk of the property you can find at least a dozen gourmet restaurants, high-end art galleries and craft shops as well as some of England’s most impressive beaches, such as Porthmeor and Porthgwidden.
Food & Drink – Tuck into a well-earned breakfast at The Digey, savour some fish & chips from The Balancing Eel, and indulge in local Cornish ice cream from Moomaid of Zennor.
To do – Try your hand at surfing with a lesson from St Ives Surf School on Porthmeor beach, trek along the coast to nearby Zennor for a pint at The Tinner’s arms, and be bowled over by the fascinating life and works of sculptor Barbara Hepworth at the nearby museum dedicated to her legacy.
