5 Scenic Motorcycle Road Drives in Cornwall

Cornwall is an outstanding place for scenic motorcycle rides at any time of the year. Things have a habit of getting a little ‘fresh’ in the cooler months, but it’s nothing the right motorcycle clothing can’t compensate for! Still, it’s during the spring and summer months in particular that this gorgeous corner of the UK really does burst into life. During which time, the very best rides in the county are at their most enjoyable. So if looking to take in the sights of the southwest this season, be sure to include one of the following iconic rides in your itinerary:

Newquay to Padstow

First up, the scenery in general in and around Newquay is simply stunning.  This enchanting ride will take you all the way through Watergate Bay and Mawgan Porth, home to some of the most beautiful beaches and vistas in the county. The stunning Seven Bays of Porthcothan, Treyarnon, Constantine, Booby’s, Mother Ivey’s and Harlyn and Trevone also await on your journey, which makes for the perfect afternoon ride in the summer sun. It can occasionally get gusty along this road with winds from the coast so be prepared.

The Roseland Peninsula

The Roseland Peninsula often goes overlooked by mass tourist crowds – nothing but a good thing for bikers! This is where you’ll find perhaps the most enjoyable and exhilarating driving experience in the county. Winding single lanes, beautiful scenery and remote treasures like Carne, Pendower, Portloe and Veryan to discover along the way. If heading out to the Roseland Peninsula, don’t miss out on the opportunity to experience the King Harry Ferry.

Zennor to Sennen

This is another ride that takes in some of the most magnificent views the Cornish Coast has to offer. Much of the route sticks closely to the coastline, bringing panorama after panorama and warranting plenty of stop-offs along the way. The route ends with a dramatic view out to the imposing Longships lighthouse, where you’ll want to ensure you’ve space on your phone left for a good few photos!

Whitsand Bay

Rame Head represents the best possible start for this exhilarating ride, which stretches across rugged cliffs and golden sands for several miles. This is one ride you’ll want to indulge in when the weather is at its best, as the clifftop winds have a tendency to get a little treacherous from time to time. Still, time it right and you’re guaranteed the memorable experience of a lifetime.

Boscastle to Bude

Last but not least, the trek from Boscastle to Bude takes in what’s arguably the most scenic stretch of coastline in the whole of Cornwall. You’ll also experience the magnificence of the highest cliffs in Cornwall, which rise a dramatic 223m out of the Atlantic Ocean below. There are various routes that can be taken to reach your destination, each of which is punctuated with a variety of rest stops that are simply perfect for picnics. Not to mention, snapping a few photos you can’t help but be proud of!
